Kefalonia 1998

Our first holiday abroad together. We stayed in Lassi which is on the Southwest of the Island in a house split into self-catering flats called Thekla House. Very hot and no air conditioning or fan. Spent a lot of nights with the windows open and taking showers using the outside shower at night to cool off. Getting drunk is the only way to get to sleep. It was a hot summer on the island with lots of fires. I don’t think we will ever forget the walk to Arglioi Theodori. Damien learned to water ski with Captain Stavros off the beach at Lassi. We hired a scooter and toured the island taking in Argostoli, Dogarati caves and Melissani lake, Assos and Myrtos beach. We got the ferry from Argostoli and found Xi beach with its red sand. We also took trips to Skala beach and the port of Poros. We lost ourselves in the mountain roads and villages, enjoying the view of Mount Ainos. Every evening was polished off with Amstel beer and our favourite wine, Melambus.
