Gambia was a country we knew little about so we were really looking forward to this trip.
There were so many similarities with yet so many differences from East Africa. We stayed in Sarge’s Hotel which was back from the beach but had beach access through the Senegambia Hotel. Not always quiet at night with the local entertainment and a lack of air conditioning.
From the top, the photos show locals selling fish by the roadside, a smoking house on the beach (you can imagine the smell) and the crowds massing as a fishing boat comes in with its catch before the mad rush to buy the contents of the boat.
This little lad wanted his photo taking - not sure about the pose! Yet another market where we got ourselves lost and on the bottom row, Kathryn in a nature reserve where we went to see the monkeys and birds. Couldn't resist the sunset picture as I had waited so long for someone to walk across my sinking sun and as you can see, Gambia isn't exactly swarming with people on the beach! Could this have been our first picture of Awa?
