Belgium 2009

2009 was my final Battlefields trip. Amongst many others, it probably ranks as one of my favourite trips. In the Ypres/South Salient area, we visited the Pool of Peace, Messines Church, Sanctuary Wood trenches ( Hill 62), Hill 60, Hooge Crater Museum and drove along the Menin Road. Then at the Somme we visited

Newfoundland Park: Y Ravine, Hunter cemeteries, Ulster Tower, Thiepval La Boisselle : Lochnagar Crater Dartmoor Cemetery, Pozieres Ridge and attended the Menin Gate ceremony. In the North Salient we visited Essex Farm Cemetery, Poelkappelle Cemetery, Tyne Cot Cemetery and Langemark Cemetery.
