“Hi Kathryn, I'm just setting off from work - oh I have 2 French people with me who will be staying for a week or so. See you in 10 minutes."
The phone call (what a patient woman Kathryn is) that led to our second Caribbean adventure. Andre and Amandine were in fact from Guadeloupe and after sampling the cold and wet of our humble abode, we were invited to come and stay in Guadeloupe anytime. Now there was an offer we couldn't refuse.
The island is part of France still which gives it a unique character. It is extremely picturesque with golden beach and volcanic mountains.
The top left photo shows the best beach (in our opinion) on the island - the water was so clear as you can see from the photo to the right of Kathryn in the sea there.
The photo below me in the swimming pool is the beach at the bottom of Andre's garden - not bad either!
Safe to say I didn't manage to get more than a quarter of the way up that tree, but we did manage to get right up into the volcanic mountains with its geysers and sulphur - reminiscent of Rotorua.
Such a perfect place to live - rivers you can swim in, outdoor eating, pristine beaches, spectacular mountains and fantastic weather to boot.
What really made it even more special was the hospitality shown by our host Andre - thank you.
