So many people seem to have been to Crete, so it would have been rude not to go! We stayed in the lovely little fishing village of Sisi on the North Eastern Coast. It was nice to have a more relaxing holiday on this laid back island. We did lots of walking though—as far West as Malia and as far East as the cave at Milatos. The weather was just right for it—we even got a bit of a cloudy day on the day that we ended up walking for hours to see the Milatos cave. As always the food (and the wine!) was fantastic and we found a lovely little tavern “Edem” which became our favourite (not just because it did the biggest free puddings!). Of course we got to see some of the Minoan heritage, visiting the Palace site outside Malia—happened to get there on International museum day, so entry was free...bonus! Swimming in the clear blue waters of the harbour, gyros pitas for lunch, ice-cream on the sea front, wine at under 3 euros a bottle, lovely walks along the shore, lots of little secret coves and Greek churches around every corner. What’s not to like?
