The Yorkshire Dales is a special place—and not just because my Dad’s ashes are there. We spent another glorious week there, this time concentrating on Nidderdale. We stayed in the lovely cottage “The Granary”, near Masham. We were lucky with the weather as bad weather was predicted, but it only rained on one day. Out walking every day, we were able to enjoy the magnificence of this beautiful Dale. We visited dad near Swaleview and then had a walk at Easby Abbey, walked around Coldstone’s Cut, walking at Gouthwaite reservoir, the Brimham Rocks circular, The Druid’s Temple walk, Deep Gill Force (which we got to but didn’t get to scramble down to), the Thornton Steward circular from Jervaulx Abbey and walked around Scar House reservoir. Lovely food at the Cover Bridge Inn, a nice Indian in Leyburn and fish and chips from Masham kept us fed. And, of course, the obligatory ice creams from Pateley Bridge and the Brymor ice cream parlour.
