Flew to Shanghai where we spent the next few days visiting traditional water towns, streets so thin you could touch either side, and the hustle and bustle of central Shanghai, the skyline over the Huangpu river from the Bund with buildings disappearing into the clouds, littered with neon signs and T.V screens. Then it was on the train to Hangzhou to visit our partner school there. In Hangzhou there we visited the West Lake, a vast expanse of water in the middle of Hangzhou, along with the Monastery of Hidden Souls, a Buddhist temple over many levels.
Then we flew to Beijing where we visited numerous palaces, the Temple of Heaven, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and of course a walk on the Great Wall. We were also lucky enough to visit the Bird’s Nest stadium, home of the Beijing Olympics.
Form the top, the photos show a boat ride in the water town, the visit to the Bird’s Nest stadium. Beneath that there are some images from the trip to the Great Wall. Further down there is a photo of me on the Teacher’s lawned roof terrace. At the bottom, there are pictures of the West lake, the water town, Tiananmen Square and the Monastery of Hidden Souls.
