This year we had our first trip to Senegal—and quite a trip it was too. We took a car to Banjul where we waited amongst the throngs of people waiting for the ferry. The ferry ride itself was tough going—packed to the rafters with people vehicles and animals as well as opportunist pick pockets. On the other side it was a long drive to the border. Crossing into Senegal involves a strange system of getting out of the car and wandering though hoards of people into little dark offices to have passports stamped out and in. All pretty irrelevant as we could have crossed the border and no one would have noticed.
Fathala game reserve isn’t the biggest, but we got to see plenty of animals including rhinos and giraffes.
