After a long flight on an A380 for the first time we finally managed to land on Bali. We stayed in Kuta at the Adhi Dharma Hotel for a couple of weeks over summer. It was our last summer holiday together before I started fostering full time. Bali is full of Australians and everything there is geared to their tastes, like surfing. Whilst we were there we travelled around a bit. We went North, seeing the inside of the island. We visited the Puseh Bawan temple as well as the Titra Empul Temple to watch the local bathing in the sacred pools. We passed all the amazing rice terraces and visited the sacred monkey forest. The highlight was the trip to the Gunung Kawi Temple with the amazing statues carved out of the rock face.
We also hired a scooter whilst we were there and travelled around some of the sights in the South such as the stunning Ulu Watu temple. It was on the way to Balangan Beach that we crashed the scooter. No major damage, but lots of torn-off skin and grit in wounds. Never forget the wonderful lady who gave us some iodine at the roadside to clean our wounds—so kind, nor the pain when applying alcohol to the wounds!!
