Once again we set off for India over the Easter holidays. Two weeks at Calangute with a flight to Jaipur staying at the Hotel Pearl palace to see the sights. Life at Calangute followed a similar pattern to the previous visit. We spent the days lounging on the beach easting at Reggie’s Shack. On an evening we would walk to the centre and watch the locals frolicking on the beach and enjoy meals at the Tibetan restaurant or at Uncle’s Kitchen. No luck this time getting an extra week due to volcanoes.
We flew with Spice Jet to Jaipur to visit the pink city. We walked around the Old City and visited the City Palace and the impressive pink Hawa Mahal. The observatory at Jantar Mantar was particularly impressive. The Jal Mahal, the palace on the lake, and Amber fort were a must, of course, an who could forget the heat of that climb up the hill in the middle of the day. Worth it though for the views of the surrounding area including the border wall.
The photos at the top show Kathryn at the Iswari Minar Swarga Sal minaret, the Amber fort baths and me at the Jal Mahal. There is a photo of us on our balcony at the Hotel Peral where no alcohol was allowed, but they did have a lovely roof terrace. Further down there are photos of the Jantar Mantar and various photos around Jaipur. At the bottom there is a photo of the Hawa Mahal and Kathryn at the City Palace.
