In October we drove down to Kent to take part in the Kent Downs Ultra Challenege. We decided to make a week of it and stayed in a cottage in Sittingbourne. We had a lovely BBQ at Jo and Mike's on the first evening, before an early (and chilly) start on Sat morning. The weather was kind to us and we enjoyed a fabulous, if very tiring walk. We mananged the 50 KM in under 12 hours - 2 hours quicker than our last Ultra. As always we had a great time with our friends and their family. Unfortunately when we went to pick up Gracie from the kennels, a warning light came on in the car and it had to be towed away by the AA for a new timing chain and thermostat housing - very expensive! But fortunately the AA paid for a rental car for us so we were able to continue enjoying our holiday. A day spent walking the white cliffs of Dover down to St Margarets' beach to watch the crazy swimmers. Another day was spent in Margate with Nora, Amanda and Elmar - that was great fun. We also went to Camber Sands for a lovely walk on the beach before visiting Rye. We also met up with our friends for a lovley pub meal. On the last day we went to Rochester where, as well as seeing the sights, we spent a lovley few hours in and industrial extate waiting for the car to be fixed!!
