Brazil was about two places really … Iguazu and Rio. Our time there started in Iguazu where we enjoyed the Brazilian sides of the falls. From the Brazilian side, you get a more panoramic view of the falls but not as close as from the Argentine side. It was our first view of the falls and really impressive. Hard to describe the power and quantity of water from the huge number of falls. The weather was once again perfect and we enjoyed being cooled off by the spray from the falls.
We flew up to Rio for the final leg of our odyssey. Staying at the Windsor California on Copacabana beach. We headed straight for the rooftop pool and views over the beach and our first sighting of Christ the Redeemer. We had booked Danny to guide us through Rio for the day and he was fab, taking us to Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf mountain, the Cathedral, a snack at the Colombo Café and the Selaron steps. We also did lots of exploring on our own on foot, clocking up lots of miles, enjoying the sunset from Arpoador rocks and eating local fare in the pay by the kilo establishments.
Rio didn’t just signal the end of our South America trip, but also the final destination with regards to the 7 wonders of the new world, all of which we have now visited together. Wow. Just wow.
